NAEA 2018 in Seattle was busy but productive!
I had the opportunity to present in the panel, Blurring Disciplinary Boundaries Through Contemporary Art: Unexpected Openings in Art Teacher Preparation and Curriculum Design alongside colleagues Dr. Sara Scott Shields, Dr. Gloria Wilson, Dr. Brooke Hofsess, and the esteemed organized, Dr. Cala Coats.
Each speaker organized their presentation around a specific concept, and I spoke about the use of “remix” in the preservice classroom.
In a separate session I presented on the Art for Life curriculum. Coming into FSU I inherited this class and the legacy of Art for Life. I have since engaged deeply with it and am drawn to the possibility of drawing connections between material explorations, conceptual frameworks, and social justice issues.
